FOR OPERATOR DIAL 123456
Exhibited in Gabirol Gallery, 2015
This work was commissioned as a site-specific response the gallery, which is located in the former headquarters of Israel’s telephone company. Made simply with vinyl on the wall, the drawing generates a forced, skewed perspective including hints of teller stands or service windows, with a lone, dark figure trapped behind one of the “real” though boarded-up windows. Like much of my work, it is infused with a wry humor; the oversized telephone receiver is positioned awkwardly outside the stands, as if personifying the need for connection to an ever elusive other.
